In photography, the moments that are captured are usually frozen in time; they can have motion; they can have a story, but if there is no image that comes sequentially after it to support it, that moment is forever alone. Time does not only pass literally as the clock moves and the wood rots but also figuratively, as we forget faces, we distort distant memories and ultimately we change. Throughout this project, I strived to capture this idea of time passing, whether it be the combination of different spaces or simply the moment someone walked in a different direction. Time is constantly moving around us in many different ways, so why not try and capture it before it leaves us?

Time Passes was a project of both luck and skill. This entire project was shot entirely on 35mm color film, and all merging of images was done with a camera. Almost all of these images did not turn out how I expected them to, and some turned out better than the image I was trying to create. This project helped me understand how much luck is in photography, whether it's a person walking into the right spot or the film not being rewound perfectly to match the frames. There will always be an element of luck.
