When thinking of a portrait, we usually think of someone's face with a simple light and a clean backdrop, but I believe there is so much more about a person that can tell you who they are. Its All in Your Hands is a project that challenges what a portrait is. Hands can tell so many different stories. Soft hands, calloused hands, scars, burns, hair, rings, tattoos, and nails. All of these characteristics tell an individual's story. I try to capture the subject's hands, environments, and passions. As I continue this project, I learn how much we do with our hands. We greet with our hands; we talk with our hands, we make music with our hands, we play sports with our hands, and our hands have the most nerves out of the human body. Our hands feed us; our hands tell our stories.
